Viral Load HIV is a blood test that is used to determine the number of

HIV virus in the blood in the body of a person who has been infected with HIV.

In accordance with Permenkes No. 21 of 2013 concerning the Strategy for Countering HIV/AIDS is through Triple 90, namely: 90% of people with HIV/AIDS (ODHA) know their status, 90% of ODHA who know their status is treated and 90% of ODHA who are treated experience a decrease in the virus in their bodies.

To find out whether the virus in the body of ODHA has decreased or not, it is necessary to do a Viral Load test. The Viral Load test on ODHA can be used to see the effectiveness of ARV treatment in ODHA. The Viral Load test is ideally done to patients who have been treated in the first 6 months, then the next 12 months and then can be done routinely once every 12 months or also on ODHA who are suspected of having treatment failure.

· Viral Load results > 100,000 copies/ml indicate a high amount of virus in the blood.

· Viral Load Results < 10,000 Copies/ml indicate a low blood count of the virus.

· Viral Load result < 20 Copy/ml indicates that the virus is not detected.

The lower the Viral Load value in ODHA, the smaller the risk of transmitting HIV to other people.

What causes Viral Load in ODHA to decrease?

1. ODHA does not take medication (ARV) regularly

2. The dose or regimen of the drug given is not appropriate.

3. ODHA has other diseases of the disease (IO).

4. HIV in the patient's body has mutated or changed genetically.

Note: ARV treatment given to ODHA can only suppress the amount of HIV virus in the blood. Although the results of Viral Load ODHA have not been detected, it does not show that the virus is really lost from the blood, so ODHA still has to consume ARV regularly and regularly.
